About the NIH CVI Registry
The National Eye Institute (NEI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recognized CVI as a priority area for research as part of their 2021 NEI Vision for the Future Strategic Plan.
NEI partnered with the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute of Neurological Diseases and Stroke (NINDS) to sponsor a Trans-NIH CVI Workshop (Roadmap to Consensus and Building Awareness) in Bethesda, MD on November 16-17, 2023.
One of the goals of this workshop was to create a patient registry to develop a database readily available for research into Cerebral or Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI).
The NIH CVI Registry aims to gain insights into current diagnostic and rehabilitation practices, characterize various presentations of CVI, and facilitate further research into the condition. After an initial data collection period, approved researchers will be able to gain access to registry data.
